4th IAEA Webinar: Equity and Assessment in the Post-COVID-19 Era

4th IAEA Webinar
On Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 13:00 (1:00 pm) BST, Dr. Randy Bennett from Educational Testing Service (ETS) will present on the following topic: Equity and Assessment in the Post-COVID-19 Era.

Summary
In this presentation, Dr. Bennett will consider the impact of structural inequity in U.S. society and its implications for educational assessment. To set the context, he will briefly describe recent trends in U.S. K-12 and higher education assessment, and the effect of COVID-19 on those trends. Focusing on African Americans, he will then briefly delineate some of the many past and present examples of structural inequity and their effects. He will describe how these effects can be connected to opportunity to learn (OTL), very broadly conceived, and how the persistence of so-called achievement gaps might be seen from that OTL perspective. He will close with a detailed set of implications for K-12 and higher education assessment and learning.

The presentation will take place via Zoom.  Members will receive a meeting invitation with the link.
